International school fees in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, 2026/27

Short answer: Published annual tuition at the twelve schools on this page runs from RM14,400 to RM143,400 (≈ US$3,600 to ≈ US$36,000). For Year 1 or Grade 1, expect about RM16,000 to RM28,000 at the smaller British schools and RM85,000 to RM116,000 at the large British, American and IB schools. Add a one-time registration or enrolment fee of up to RM59,000 and a refundable deposit.

Before you budget: these are each school's own published figures. They exclude 6% SST unless stated, and usually exclude transport, meals, uniforms, trips and exam fees. Schools review fees every year, so confirm the figure for your child's year group with the school.

Frequently asked questions

How much are international school fees in Kuala Lumpur?

At the twelve schools on this page, published annual tuition runs from RM14,400 (Tree Top, half-day preschool) to RM143,400 (ISKL, Grades 9 to 12). For Year 1 or Grade 1, the range is RM16,200 at Tree Top to RM115,600 at ISKL. The large British, American and IB schools, such as Garden International, Alice Smith, M'KIS, IGB and ISKL, charge roughly RM85,000 to RM145,000 a year from primary upwards.

What do I pay on top of tuition?

Every school charges a non-refundable application fee (RM300 to RM1,802) and most charge a one-time registration or enrolment fee, from RM1,500 at Tree Top to RM59,000 at ISKL. Most also hold a refundable deposit, often one term's fees. Uniforms, school bus, meals, trips, laptops and external exam fees are usually extra.

Is SST charged on school fees?

Several schools state that 6% service tax (SST) applies to annual fees above RM60,000 per student, from 1 July 2025. The fees on this page exclude SST unless the school's own page says otherwise, so check the final figure with the school.

Which areas do expat families choose for international schools?

Mont Kiara is the best-known area, with Garden International and M'KIS in the neighbourhood. Ampang Hilir and the KLCC side suit ISKL and Sayfol; Desa ParkCity has The International School @ ParkCity; and Kota Damansara and Sungai Buloh have Sri KDU International and IGB. Many families choose the home after the school, to keep the school run short.

Are the cheaper schools international schools too?

Yes. Sayfol, Tree Top and Taylor's International follow British curricula leading to IGCSE, and their fees are a fraction of the larger schools. The difference is mostly in campus size, facilities, class sizes and the share of expatriate families, so visit before you decide.
